Drea Renee Knits

I can't believe it has already (only??) been a year since I published my first pattern over on Ravelry

I am one of the many who was lucky enough to learn how to knit as a child by my Grandma Ginny. By my late teens, guided by the wisdom of the great Elizabeth Zimmerman and my many knitting books, I began trying to work out my own patterns. (These were the days before Ravelry!) But it wouldn't be until about 12 years down the road, after leaving my life as a pastry chef to start a family with my husband, that my hands would find the necessary freedom (and confidence) to begin creating with fiber instead of flour.

Now, my hands can barely keep up with the ideas flowing from my head (or should I say heart?), and I take full advantage of every nap time and quiet evenings. You will always find me prepared with needles and yarn for whenever a spare moment arises to sneak in some stitches!

My focus has to been to design knits that fit the modern wardrobe - fun to knit and easy to wear, with clear directions for every level of knitter. I believe in really enjoying every stitch! My goal is to help other knitters feel inspired and empowered in any way that I can. Because the world needs more knitters - don't you think?

My favorite part of this last year has been the amazing friends I have made! Knitters are the friendliest people, and we always have something to talk about (hellllooooo yarn!), which for a shy introvert like myself, is huge!

So let's keep spreading the knit love. Let's teach our neighbors, friends, and families (and maybe that stranger at the coffee shop that just came up to you to ask what you are doing!) Let's support each other and cheer each other on! Let's get to know each other thru Ravelry, Instagram, knitting events (Stitches West, anyone??) and in real life!! Knit your loved ones something for the holidays! Can you think of anything that shows more love than spending your precious time working on something that will bring them comfort and joy (I couldn't help myself), no, but seriously - it will bring them comfort! And joy! And warmth!

After you knit so selflessly for them, let's get back on track for some truly well-deserved selfish knitting!! (My favorite kind of knitting if I'm being really honest here.) Once they are off your needles and wrapped around you, you can enjoy them for years to come, remembering those moments in your life that got woven into your stitches, as your beautiful yarn ran thru your fingers, over your needles, and into something beautiful.

I hope I can help a little bit, as my way of saying thank you for all of your support over this last year, by offering up a little pre-holiday sale. Use the code KNITLOVE to save 25% off of all my patterns thru the weekend.

A big congratulations to Michelle Carter (aka MamaTronic) for winning my Pattern Library Giveaway!!! Happy Knitting Michelle!!

Happy knitting my friends, may your stitches keep you (and your loved ones) warm and joyful all season long!
